Who is Eileen Moushey
|

A TWO-time Emmy-award winning writer, that’s who! Yep, picked up another statuette in 2007, for a little tv show we like to call Shortcuts To Happiness (mostly ‘cause that’s its name.) Here’s more about it.
Besides writing plays, I also do freelance work as a video script writer and have written a series of comic books for the Akron Public Schools Department of Career Education. Right now I’m writing another mock trial (The Three Billeee Goatz Gruf) for a middle school project of the Akron Bar Association that provides an introduction to the criminal justice system.
I’m also heading out on speaking engagements and just this year I "killed" in front of Rotary (those people just would NOT stop spinning. Very distracting) And I spent some time in high schools, talking about Life As A Writer and doing workshops on everything from info to creative writing.
I have a BS in Education from the University of Dayton (1971) and I taught primary school for 6 years before marrying Stephen "Body Removal" Moushey and producing 3 offspring in short order. For a few years, I mostly stayed home with the kids while slogging away at a boring part-time office job. Oh, and I also got involved in community theatre -- first as an actress, then as a writer, and ultimately (and uncharacteristically) as a Trustee.
It was through a community theatre -- Weathervane Community Playhouse -- that the whole mystery thing came about. I was doing some little writing gigs at the Playhouse, when a local hotel asked us if we could put on one of those "mystery things" that had just started popping up in big cities and hotels and cruise ships. "Heck, yeah," I said, when asked if I could write it. I then proceeded to find out what-the-he** an "interactive mystery" was all about. The rest is history!
The mystery writing has led to all the rest of it. When people ask me what I do, I usually tell ‘em that "I kill people" and then fill in the info from there. Awfully hard to fit on a business card, though!
